MISSION STATEMENT The mission of the Indiana Extension Homemakers Association is to strengthen families through continuing education, leadership development, and volunteer community support.IEHA VISION STATEMENT The Indiana Extension Homemakers Association shall reach out to all segments of society in an effort to nurture families and homes across the state of Indiana, with compassion and without prejudice. This will be accomplished through: **teaching basic life skills in our communities **developing partnerships with other groups and organizations **using technology to further ----our educational mission ----reach new audiences ----stay connected with current members **increasing visibility through ----news articles ----webpage ----brochures ----paid advertising ----marketing Suggested Plan of Action 1. Look for opportunities in our communities where there is a need for basic life skills. a. Recent high school graduates b. Young marrieds c. Single parents d. Young adults who have been emancipated from Foster care e. Those who want to learn heritage skills such as quilting, needle arts, other crafts, and skills. 2. Seek partnerships with other organizations. a. Use their resources (skills, facilities, funding, etc.) to teach classes. b. As a link to reach the people that want to learn what we can teach 3. Make every effort to increase visibility a. Send a monthly article (with Pictures) to the local newspaper. (Have members request for the articles to be published in areas where the newspaper wont publish.) Tell about activities that have been done and upcoming events. Radio and television coverage is encouraged if it is available. b. Encourage clubs to be visible in their areas. Festivals, church events, make a difference day, day of caring, etc. c. Use websites, emails, etc. to pass along information August 2005
