This coming year IEHA will continue the Volunteer Community Support program entitled "Share the Warmth, Love, Knowledge and Blessings". This program was initiated in 2000-2001 and continues to be popular throughout the state.Among the state projects we continue to support are: Riley Children's Hospital, Riley Cheer Guild, Ronald McDonald Houses, and the NVON Project in Common MAD-Making a Difference for Children in Foster Care which will end on December 31, 2009. The state board voted to extend the International Project, Habitat for Humanity in Haiti, for one more year. A new state project beginning July 1, 2009 is IEHA Supports Our Military Heroes. Detailed information for this project is in the County President's Blue Notebook. It is a three-part program which includes mailing packages, sewing clothing for special needs returnees and a quilting project for all who enjoy quilting. Clubs and counties are also encouraged to support other community service projects according to their local needs. I encourage club members to track their volunteer hours on the Volunteer Community Support Form. This form is found in the County President's Blue Notebook. Please note: ONLY hours spent on an IEHA sponsored project benefiting the community are to be included. Volunteer hours spent on projects for your church or other organizations are not to be included in this total. We began to use this form in 2006 and it has proven to be very helpful in compiling information on number of hours, number of items and monetary donations for individual clubs and counties. Please continue to use it. Shirley Nix Volunteer Community Support Chair 2008-2009
