FIRST BOOKS FOR KIDS

08/11/09

First Books for Kids annual report was distributed at Home and Family Conference in June. Anyone can read or obtain a copy of this report from your County President. Also, a session was held for all counties who are supporting the program and/or new counties who are interested in the program.

Mary Global, White County, gave a report on how her county secures funding and reads to children. Other counties also participated by highlighting special activities and how they secured funding.

State Certificates were distributed to counties for their volunteer work in the program.

Discussions were held on how we could enhance the program. Suggestions of a Tri or Bi fold explaining the First Books for Kids mission, program and funding requirements was discussed. All were in agreement and a committee was appointed.

Another discussion was on whether a grant could be found to help with finances for all counties in the state. A committee was appointed to explore the avenues in which we might find the available funding.
