IEHA SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS

08/11/09

To all Scholarship winners we say congratulations. The state awarded eight scholarships this year, six for Career Advancement, one for Eleanor Arnold and one for Ann Hancook. We also had 26 completed applications for the Ruth B. Sayre scholarship and I'm pleased to announce that we had a winner from our state. Congratulations Kasey Miller of Churubusco. Kasey was one of four winners out of over 100 applications.

We do need to address a major issue with our scholarship process. I received more than 26 applications for the scholarship and some of them might have been qualified, but they were either late, or incomplete. I must urge all county presidents to please go to your extension office and make sure the information that they have on file matches the new information for scholarships that you received at your recent Blue Book updating/planning meeting. It is vital that you not only check your information against the information in the educator's book, but also check with the secretaries and make sure there isn't outdated information in their files. It is such a shame to have viable candidates denied an opportunity because they have the wrong information.
